ABOUT HUTCH

Dr. Hutch Stilgenbauer, MD

Medical Director Hutch Stilgenbauer, MD grew up local to the Houston area and attended Texas Tech University for undergraduate studies. It was there that his passion for service and medicine both began. He obtained his Paramedic through South Plains College while obtaining his medical school prerequisite courses, and after a difficult decision, enlisted in the United States Air Force after earning his undergraduate degree. He served four years of active duty as a Tactical Air Controller (TACP) with deployments and TDY to over 20 countries.

Nearing the end of his active-duty commitment the fire for medicine was rekindled as he completed additional coursework and gained acceptance to Ross University School of Medicine. He graduated with High Honors in 2018 and was fortunate to match at his number one choice in the competitive residency field of Emergency Medicine at McGovern Medicine at UT Health, Houston. With gratitude he was selected Chief Resident during his third year and went on to pursue an additional one-year fellowship at McGovern in Emergency Medical Services. This fellowship placed him in the unique and challenging role of Assistant Medical Director for the Houston Fire Department, while practicing as an attending at the nation’s busiest level one trauma center, Memorial Hermann Hospital, at the Texas Medical Center.

He has additional emergency medicine obligations as Medical Director for Village Fire Department, as well as his new role of Medical Director for Strategic Trauma Solutions. Dr. Stilgenbauer continues to be involved in the military as an ER physician continually being trained and mentored by some of the nation’s brightest and forward-thinking pioneers in battlefield medicine.

Unrelated to medicine, his true joy rests in his beautiful family with wife Nya and three-year-old son Charles. Hobbies when not chasing Charles and the family dog around the backyard include motorcycling and travel, tinkering on old British race cars, and fishing whenever possible
