FAQs

My sons first took this course when they were 6 & 8 years old.  They did great!  Typically, 10-11 year olds do perfectly fine in this course.

No, this certification does not expire.  If this course is taken for a job, an employer will typically recommend a refresher course every 1-2 years.

Bleeding emergencies in the home occur every day, for one reason or another.  During a bleeding emergency in my home when my son was 10 years old, he was the FIRST person to grab his first aid kit to render aid!  Children have an innate desire to help others and they’re fast learners.  The more people that are trained, the safer we all are.

Nope, we aren’t boring people.  Our team engages with stories, questions, hands-on skills, & open discussion.  Many times, this course is guided by your questions!  Training takes 1-2 hours to complete, depending on the amount of questions.  We have fun and try to not leave any stone unturned.

ACS Stop The Bleed

While more than 2.4 million people have now been trained to STOP THE BLEED®, that’s just a start. Our goal is to train 200 million. Why? Because the purpose of the STOP THE BLEED® campaign is to make our nation more resilient by better preparing the public to save lives if people nearby are severely bleeding. This preparation is being done by raising awareness and teaching people how to learn three quick actions to control serious bleeding.

STOP THE BLEED® is the result of a collaborative effort led by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma (ACS COT) to bring knowledge of bleeding control to the public. The ACS COT, and specifically the EMS subcommittee with its many collaborative relationships, provided the perfect environment for this program to grow into the critical success that it is today.

Today, the bleeding control curriculum is accomplished with collaboration between The ACS COT, The Hartford Consensus, The National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT), The committee on Tactical Combat Casualty Care (CoTCCC), and the NAEMT Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) committee.
