National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) is recognized as the leading education program for prehospital emergency trauma care.  The PHTLS class in San Antonio is designed to improve the quality of trauma care and decrease mortality.  NAEMT PHTLS is the global gold standard in prehospital trauma education & promotes critical thinking as the foundation for providing the highest quality care.  The program is based on the belief that, given a good foundation of knowledge and key principles, EMS practitioners are capable of making reasoned decisions regarding patient care.  The PHTLS certification is appropriate for EMTs, paramedics, nurses, physician assistants, physicians, critical care transport teams & other prehospital providers.

FAQ

1Who can take PHTLS?
NAEMT PHTLS is designed for all prehospital providers. EMS, Fire, EMTs, RNs, PAs, and even physicians.
2Do I get education credit for PHTLS?
NAEMT PHTLS offers 16hrs CPACE for PHTLS Initial course and Hybrid course. 8hrs CAPCE for PHTLS Refresher/Renewal. Sadly, CAPCE does not count towards RN CEs.
3How long does PHTLS certification last?
PHTLS certification is good for 4yrs for all certification types and specialties.
4Is there an online PHTLS option?
STS does offer a Hybrid PHTLS option where 8hrs of pre-course modules are completed at your leisure and 8hr hands-on are completed in the classroom.
5How many questions are on the PHTLS exam?
The exam consists of 50 questions. But don't worry, STS offers you a study packet with 25 practice questions with registration of any PHTLS course.
