AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)

American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and other basic cardiovascular life support skills. This course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
In this course, participants will learn:
- The key components of high-quality chest compressions
- The importance of rapid AED use
- Single & multi-rescuer CPR teamwork approach
- Providing effective ventilations
- Relief of choking for adults, children & infants

Certification Details
Certification is valid for 2 years, expiring at the end of the month.

Our instructors are active healthcare providers to include nurses, EMTs, paramedics, and medical specialty technicians.
Training Format
This course requires in-person, hands-on activities. AHA does offer a blended option with online modules. Once modules are complete, STS may assist with the in-person hands-on session in order to complete certification. HERE is the link to AHA BLS Heartcode.

My certification expired, may I take a renewal course?
Yes. This course requires basic concepts that are covered in each course option. You will not miss anything!
I have a physical disability. Can I still become certified in AHA BLS?
AHA was forward thinking when they created the “Advisor: BLS” course. It is designed for those who can pass the cognitive portion of BLS, but cannot complete the psychomotor testing.
